Bates Academy First Semester Syllabus
Dear Parents/Guardians:
Welcome to the First Semester of the Bates Academy School
Year 2017 - 2018. I hope to share with you the pride, and excitement of watching
your child’s growth in academics, social awareness and physical ability.
The Health and Physical Education Program here encompasses the widest possible range
of activities and learning experiences. The purpose of a well designed physical
education program is to maximize each student’s potential through the
acquisition of knowledge, skills, and attitudes that will transfer to a healthy
lifestyle. Bates Academy students will be exposed to a variety of different life
time sports to help to broaden their horizons. In order to incorporate these
goals grades will be posted within 24 hours in most cases, and in three days as
it relates to written assignments and projects. In order to maintain safe, cooperate, yet enjoyable movement experiences in the
gym, the following gym policies and procedures are important. Please discuss them with your child.
1. ATTENDANCE: since your child will attend gym only a few times weekly, it
